Hey all, I'm Jeremy. I live in the sleepy little town of Buckhorn which is right outside of Bloomsburg. My story Is a long one so I won't bore you with that unless youre truly interested. But basically I recently became obsessed with all things fly fishing after reading loads of fishing books. John Gierach, Nick Lyons, William Tapply, ect... I was an addict and a recluse for a decade but I've been clean now for going on 6 years. I still have some bad anxiety and everything but for some reason I can't explain, I just know that fishing is the answer. To what question I don't know, but I know it's what I need to do. However, I literally have nothing. No gear, no cash, never even casted a line, and can't drive. But I have no obligations and can fish every day. So I don't know where to even begin but I thought meeting some experienced anglers would be a good start. Feel free to message me anytime!

Just found out there's a bunch of old fishing gear buried in my grandpa's garage, including a fly rod. Im gonna get out there asap and see what all's there as I'm welcome to keep whatever I find. I'm quite excited!

Hi Jeremy,
If you have a nominal amount of $$, order a flyrod kit, or blanks/components from Hook&Hackle, Jann's Netcraft, Custom Flyrod Crafters, or other websites. You don't need to start out with high-end tackle, and you won't have idle hands when you're not fishing. You can even replace damaged components on your grandpa's old stuff and use it if you need to.
Regards,

Hey thanks so much for the info, it's greatly appreciated my friend. Yeah I'm pretty excited to see what all stuff my grandpa had, I'm sure there's bound to be some stuff I can use. I know for a fact there is a fly rod, I just have no idea what kind or anything as my grandma knows nothing about it. She just said she knows he had one that he kept out there.

Post pictures of the rod and the reel. Someone here will have enough familiarity to offer a useful opinion of its utility. If they offer to immediately buy the outfit, you probably have a a gem. All you need is serviceable.

Thanks for the info! I got lucky and had an extremely generous fly fisher I met send me a rod that I've already fallen in love with. I still haven't gotten to get the stuff from the garage but I've been told the rod is broken. I got someone who wants to take a look at it though so I'm gonna try and get to it asap.
