This is a link to the story about mandated cleanup of portage creek.

Well, i'm printing it to read later...but I like the headline so far..thanks for posting, ryan.

I also wonder if the Wholey's Ad next to the article was intentional...

SHORT NOTICE CHEMICAL SPILL PUBLIC MEETING TONIGHT!

From: Bucktail Watershed
Date: Saturday, September 23, 2006 7:10:42 AM
Subject: Chemical Spill Public Meeting
Yesterday the Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection,
Katy McGinty, was in Emporium to announce the time and date of a public meeting
regarding the Norfolk Southern sodium hydroxide chemical spill.
The meeting will be held next week on Wednesday, Sept 27 at 6:30 pm in the Court
Room of the Cameron County Courthouse.
DEP is hoping to hear from concerned sportsmen who use the aquatic resources affected
by the spill and from residents, camp owners, and business owners who own property by
the stream, live in the affected communities, or own businesses affected by the spill.
As members of the Bucktail Watershed Association, everyone who is available next
Wednesday should try to make it to this meeting.
At the meeting DEP will especially be looking for input on projects for which to spend
the fine money from the pollution event, projects within the Driftwood Branch watershed
that will help improve the stream and offset the setbacks that occurred from the Portage
Creek spill.
For more information on the meeting call the Cameron County Conservation District at
486-9354 or 486-9353.
