Yippee....it's getting cold outside....and the mountain lion stories are returning. Winter is officially here.

No offense Bruno, This is a seasonal topic that is not only interesting but all the same. :-D

No offence taken. Hell, I think I started the topic last time Your right, when it gets cold and the leaves fall from the trees I think the woods get a little more interesting. I read this article yesterday morning. I went for a hike in the afternoon and obviously it was on my mind. I think my mind has a tendency to wander more in the fall and winter when I am in the woods.

That being said, I do think that it is exciting that the state says that it will take these sightings more seriously. This is a big state with a ton of forested land. The fact that a big cat may be roaming the woods is pretty cool.

I believe in Santa Clause, The Great Pumpkin, Bigfoot, UFO’s and Mountain Lions in Pennsylvania.

Who knows maybe one of our little streams holds a distinct species of trout that remains undiscovered/ undocumented .

Here's my 2 cents, recently in Smithsonian Magazine an article about mountain lions in CO. was published. The researchers there were tracking Mt. Lions using radio telemetry and knew exactly where the lions could be found, ut even with the technology they had they didn't always find the animals.
The reason is that they are so secretive and camoflaged and the terrain they inhabitat is so wild they are hard to spot, after reading this, I've concluded that even the ,ost dedicated outdoorsman would never see a Mt. Lion, unless the animal was being actively hunted with dogs. I've have talked to enough people that think they've seen 1 that I believe they are here in PA.
