I know that many of you on this forum blend your own dubbings, and in this video, I share my process. If you have any advanced techniques, I'd love to hear about them.

I like the jar technique. Fill jar about 1/2 way with water, then add mixture and one drop of hair conditioner. Put on lid and shake vigorously.

Rinse, strain and let dry on newspaper. Takes more time than coffee grinder (which I still use sometimes), but I think it makes more uniform mixtures.

BTW, I don't keep fur patches around much any more. When I get a chunk of fur or a hare's mask I shave it right away and give it the jar treatment. Then I store different furs in baggies. It takes up less space and I can make up new blends more quickly this way. Of course I make big batches of commonly used blends, like a scud blend, an olive caddis blend, a Bird's Nest mix, etc.
