Hi. I'm planning to run some fly swaps on this site starting in a week or so. I'm sort of chumming the waters to see who might be interested in participating (now or in the future). I have been tying for over 50 years and hosting swaps for the past eleven years on various sites. I'm retired and swaps help keep my face off the post office walls!😉

All my swaps are open to ALL level tyers and I am happy to provide additional assistance to newer tyers which can include - suggestions for a pattern to meet the swap criteria, a list of hints/tips/tricks in tying your pattern of choice, and educational feedback on where you did well, where you need to improve with steps you can take to make those improvements. Also, ALL participants will receive a fly-tying gift from me for participating - as I said tying for over fifty years and living by the credo "He who dies with the most toys wins!" - well, let's just say I have a LOT of extra material to share! Normally I include an extra pattern or two in each swap along with the recipe for each pattern to help build your stock of patterns. Lastly, I like everyone to have fun in my swaps - fly tying is a great hobby NOT a CHORE!

I will be happy to answer any questions you may have. I'm retired and will check this site at least daily. You can either post your question on this thread, on any future swap threads, or PM (personal message) me.

With what I've said, please respond below if you would be interested in a swap on this site.

Kim

BTW, the theme for the first swap will either be the Ark Swap (2X2's - 2 materials or less, 2 minutes or less to tie), My Cousin is a Chicken Swap (patterns using quail, partridge, and/or pheasant), or the Gilligan Swap (minnow/baitfish patterns -of course!). Like I said, I like to have fun!

Count me in, we haven't had a swap here in years.

I’m interested. I’ve participated in a number of fly tying swaps over the past 10 years here on PAFF. Time is my biggest concern. I’m not yet retired, but looking forward to it. I have a two week AK flyfishing trip planned late August into September and some bowhunting to do to hopefully restock the freezer with venison this fall. So my involvement will depend on the timing and the parameters of the swap. I think it’s a great opportunity for forum members to connect and share patterns and ideas.

If all goes according to plan I will run about 6 swaps per year here - ~one month for sign-up and an additional 1 month before the flies are due. I hope this helps.

Thanks for your interest

Kim

I’m interested - be a good reason to get back to the vise - I like your theme ideas too! Looking forward to them 😎👍🏼
