Floating line question

My floating lines seem to never float proud on surface where my leader connects. They are usually under surface but back from this, they float. Is this unusual?

Nope…what you’re experiencing is pretty typical. Before you start fishing, while your line is dry rub some loon payette paste on the first couple of feet of fly line and your leader and they will float for a little while but eventually the tip of the fly line and butt of the leader will sink.

Thanks, good to know. I’ve experienced it on all of mine, thought my line may be inferior?

IMHO, lower end lines are more likely to have this issue
