Flies for Shad Fishing

Over the past few years, I have enjoyed fishing for shad on the Susquehanna below the Conewengo dam. I've always used spinner gear with the usual shad darts, spoons, and jig heads.

Next year I would like to use my fly fishing set-up. I have a 4wt 8' rod. Will this be enough? Also, any suggestions on what flies I will need to tie this winter?
