I'm not sure if this should be here or in "Tying." Here goes. I found a very inexpensive source for "flash" material. I was trolling to see if I could locate a source of narrow width Mylar for tying. In the past I have used Mylar balloons, Christmas tinsel and various packaging material. I stumbled upon a great source at an absolutely bargain price. "47 Inch 12 Colors Hair Tinsel With Tool Sparkling Dazzle Glitter Shiny Hair Extensions Hair Silk Tinsel?47 inch,12 Color,2000 Strands). About $12.00 and free shipping on Amazon. It is very reflective and about the same tensile strength as some of the name brands sold in the shops. It even comes in rainbow. Has anyone else ever tried this? I wil let you know how it ties and fishes.

I hope that this saves some of you a few bucks.

You can get shiny stuff from Doritos bags also.

Some people do use that for fly tying.

Amazon also has hackle to go w/ the sparkle...

That's tinsel for a lifetime. My niece owns a hair salon. I'll have to hit her up for some.

Have you actually tied flies with the hackle hair extensions? What size are they?
