H.R. STACKHOUSE FACILITY, SPRING CREEK CANYON TRAIL ACCESS POINT TO CLOSE TEMPORARILY FOR WELL DRILLING PROJECT

BELLEFONTE, Pa (June 5) – The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) would like to advise the public that a pending construction project will result in the temporary closure of its H.R. Stackhouse training facility and surrounding areas that include portions of Fisherman’s Paradise, located in Benner Township, Centre County. This closure will restrict access to one end of the Spring Creek Canyon Trail.
From June 10-21, a contractor will conduct well drilling operations to provide potable drinking water to both the H.R. Stackhouse facility and Bellefonte State Fish Hatchery. The H.R. Stackhouse property will house an upcoming class of PFBC Waterways Conservation Officer Trainees set to commence in late summer.
As a safety measure during the construction period, the immediate area around the H.R. Stackhouse facility including the parking lot will be restricted and the public will be unable to park on the property or enter the north end of Spring Creek Canyon Trail from that location. The north entrance gate to the trail will remain closed during this time and signage will be posted to indicate the closure.
Anyone wishing to use the trail during this period can access the trail at the Benner Spring State Fish Hatchery, State Game Lands 333, or the Rock Road trail head. While the length of the trail will remain open, users will be unable to exit the trail at the north end at H.R. Stackhouse.
The PFBC would like to thank the public for its understanding during this temporary closure period, and notification will be made once property restrictions have been removed.

Well, that sucks. I wish they would have done this in July or August, when the fishing isn't nearly as good. The Benner Springs access is going to get super busy.

That would have delayed getting more WCO's into vacant districts for another few months.
