Location
Butler Co home, Forest Co camp
Date: April 6, 2019
Time: 330pm - 545pm
Air Temp: 61
Water Temp: 38
Flow: Nice flow but lower than I expected. Very nice color
Insects: a few small stoneflies and a few midges

Saw no other people tracks and probably for good reason, the fish weren’t active. I fished below the surface with light flies and dark flies but neither worked. I saw one fish head for cover, another fish swiped at a fly twice but I never felt him and I pulled a fingerling out of the water on the only hookset of the day but otherwise didn’t get to see what it was.

I fished through a bunch of really nice holes in an area where I do well in June but it wasn’t happening for me today. I’ve never fished it this early before. I thought the warm afternoon would trigger a bite but it must be too shaded even without the leaves.

It was still nice to get out.

still to cold for most fish here. I don't start to fish until the end of april or beginning of may in class "A"s in the northern counties
water needs to be over 50 degrees for a week or 2 for the brookies to become active.
