Do fiberglass rods follow the same rule of thumb as bamboo that the lighter the reel, the less mass, the more action you get out of the rod itself?

I understand that for bigger rods balance becomes more important for tip heavy rods and fighting fatigue, but I'm only asking in reference to lighter trout rods. 3 and 4 wts.

Thanks.

I've not heard that before, but it might be accurate. I fish fiberglass 6'6" to 7'6" a lot (both vintage and modern), and I just use an inexpensive disk drag reel, rather than a more expensive lighter weight reel.
