Found this pattern online and tied some up anywhere from sizes 16-20. Looking forward to throwing these when the water levels drop a little and things clear up.

Pink hot spot
Quill Body
Hackle fibers for a tail
UV Hares Ear blend for a thorax
Tung bead sized to hook

The one pictured is a #20

Looks like a winner, I'm going to tie a few.

Is there any particular reason its called a "fall" baetis?

And is that a scud hook?

Got a laugh from the eye. When you sit down to tie, do you sing eye-on-vise (to the tune of eye-of-the-tiger, obscure reference to 80's Rocky movie theme song).

Cathy- Yes, it's a scud hook. I don't tie very many on straight shanks anymore. I just personally like the look of a curved shank. The only reason I called it a "fall" baetis is cuz I fish these a lot in the fall/winter months. This is the time of year I tie all kinda of crazy looking midges and what not.

It's funny to hear all the different responses to the eyes on the vise. Lol they seem to fit perfect, and it's out of the "norm". However, sometimes the thread catches the eyes and it can be a PIA at times. But that just goes with tying in general I suppose
