easy steelhead line

need a line for steel head, buy a DT and cut the tip back 2-3 feet. this will put some more weight up front for turning those indicator and eggs over. just make sure you seal the end with a little goop to keep water out of the new end.

That is a good tip.

I like the budget aspect of this. You can buy a double taper line and use both ends of it.

Would the same work for smallmouth bass fishing?
