Hey guys,

I am curious on the pickerel population in the towpath in Lower Bucks. I am going to be able to go out on Monday and was debating if I try my luck for pickerel or drive a bit for trout.

I have never caught a pickerel on the fly and really want to give it a go, but curious on the population density of the fish. Are there just a few in the canal, or will it be worth a day walking and fishing for them?

I used to live in Newtown, Washington Crossing, and Yardley. I don't ever remember anyone ever talking about pickerel being there. I have no experience there either.

I haven't fished that area in years. Do remember catching a couple on minnows. They are definitely a blast on a fly rod. I've caught most of mine either in lakes in the Poconos or the ponds and lakes in South Jersey.

jersey side has them and some musky

The tohickon creek has plenty of pickeral in it. The canel not a noted pickeral hotspot.
