I was reading the thread on stream location where Camby-- was discussing fishing small streams.He mentioned that the trout seemed to see him before he saw them.
I was going to explain that in fact they can because of the way water bends light rays.
I couldn't think of the word,could someone help an old man-thanks.

Refraction? Yes the trout may see the top of your head before your eyes get to the angle to see it. And if your head is against a well lit background it will see the movement before you get into position to recognize it.
