The Klinkhammer, developed by Dutch angler Hans van Klinken, is type dry fly or better yet a transitional pattern between a nymph and dry fly. The emerging stage of a mayfly. Where the nymph part is under water while the adult is breaking out of the nymphal shuck. Tied in many colors to imitate what is hatching. The Calf Tail wing post can be substituted with any color for different light conditions on the stream.
Materials
Hook: Size 12 Daiichi 1160 (Bronze) Klinkhammer Hook
Wing: White Calf Tail
Thread: Brown 6/0 Rib: Brown carpet thread or fine copper wire
Body: Brown Dubbing Fur
Thorax: Peacock Herl
Hackle: Dun Hackle wrapped on horizontal plan on base of wing
