been out of tying for a dozen years-wondering if anyone uses white bodies, than colors with pens?
Saw someone list elk hair caddis with three or four body colors
nymphs would be another
Sulphers?

I know of a few fly fishermen that claim to carry markers on the stream, but I've never seen it in person.

I would think that caddis would be a perfect candidate for it.

I do it all the time. I carry pens in the back of my vest. It works with any light colored fly. Give it a try.

JayL, you can check my pack, I carry pens all the time. Choose the correct size parachute adams/elk hair caddis & color to match the hatch. I also use them on hares ear nymphs as I and/or the fish deem appropriate.

Only do this with Tricos. I only tie female spinners, and carry a black Sharpie...

Now that is a good idea.

Perhaps I'll get a pack of markers and some white dubbing...
