This just in for those that really care about Cross Fork.

The PFBC is assisting the Kettle Creek Watershed Association with a habitat
enhancement project on Cross Fork (tributary to Kettle Creek) in Potter County.
Dave Keller will be on site managing the project. The PFBC construction crew
will have a backhoe on site to dig the trenches and place the logs. Mudsills
will be the main devices used, thus extra manpower is needed to drill the logs,
secure the logs with rebar, seed disturbed areas, etc. The construction will
occur from Thursday July 5th to Wednesday July 11th. Construction will begin
each weekday at! 7:00 AM and at 8:00 AM on Saturday and Sunday. The first site
that will be addressed is located directly upstream of Windfall Run. This is the
second year for the Cross Fork project. The project was started last summer and
one site was completed, but additional help is needed to complete the remaining
sites this summer. All materials have been purchased and delivered to the
sites. I believe there are at least 3 large mudsills planned for construction
and a couple multi-log vanes. Would any members of the Allegheny Mountain
Chapter TU be interested in helping with the Cross Fork project? This is a good
project that has the opportunity to enhance the habitat at a number of sites in
Cross Fork that are degraded by severe bank erosion and lack of instream
habitat. Please feel free to give me a call if you have any questions or would
like further details of the project. Any help that the Allegheny Mountain
Chapter TU may be able to provid! e wou ld be much appreciated.
