Just finished this read. Very informative. Great sections on mending, drifts, and rod control. IMO a pretty overlooked aspect that is vitally important to catching fish.

I picked this up for my droid kindle app for around 7 dollars. Not a bad read. It is short and sweet. Eric Stroup is a guid on the Little J. He is a great guy and even helped me out with an online auction benifitting a young girl with cancer.

His book has good illustrations as well. The book is short and sweet and direct to the point. I knew a lot of things in the book already but did pick up a great wealth of knowledge on casting and reading the water.

I think it is a must have for beginners, and a great read for the price. I have not thought of spending money to fish public water but might consider a trip with Eric sometime.

Mike,

I've spent some time fishing with Eric, and he is a great fisherman/Guide and a real nice guy. I can just about guarantee a day with Eric would be very enjoyable and rewarding for you.

Thanks Afish,

From my brief emails with him he seems like a stand up guy. Very Very humble and low key IMO. I need to save up some cash and maybe plan a trip for next year. I tied up some of his J-Bug patterns last night. A really easy way to get a 2-tone look to a fly.

I think that's a very good book. Sound, very specific advice on how to cast, mend, and fish commonly encountered situations on the stream- especially those that present difficulties related to getting a good drift.
