A bridge rehabilitation project is set to begin this week in Coburn. PennDOT will be working on the 85-year-old Coburn Road bridge over Penns Creek. Temporary traffic signals will be placed Tuesday to enforce an alternating traffic pattern during the road project. The work will improve the bridge’s rating from “fair” to “good,” PennDOT said. The 119-foot-long structure was built in 1938 and carries an average of more than 900 vehicles each day. The project includes the replacement of floor beams and bearings as well as the replacement of rivets with high-strength bolts. Work is expected to wrap up in mid-July, though it is weather dependent. HRI Inc. is the contractor on the $957,000 project.
