Would be a good idea to stock up on a few cicada patterns this summer if you live in Western PA.

Yeah - I'm looking forward to giving them a shot. However, there aren't many streams in that area that hold large fish, that might be chowing down on them.
Of course the Yough river does. But because of it's large size, I'm not sure how available the cicadas will be to them.
Should be interesting

Could be a good time...

The majority of this hatch will be all over WV. Here's a map. Looks like the counties in the far southwest corner of PA have a shot at some cicadas.

Anyone have a pattern or patterns they really like for this? photos or youtube link would be great

thanks

Here's a pretty good looking pattern made mainly of foam. You could easily eliminate a few of the more detailed steps and make it very simple.

Someone here must remember 1999. Did the Yough see this emergence? How about some of the Western MD streams?

I can speak to the Yough in 1999, as I had written it off at the point. I distinctly remember having them at my house ( Eastern edge of Westmoreland Co.) in 2001.

thanks for the link - that and I found a loren Williams pattern that looks good

The pattern isn't too important. I used a green spun deer hair pattern that imitates the New Zealand cicadas with great success during the last great event in central PA. The PA cicadas are black and orange. Anything big that makes a splash when it lands will bring the trout running.
