The Young of the Year (YOY) survey for striped bass in the Chesapeake Bay this year was outstanding. In recent years, there has been growing concern among striped bass fans along the coast that stripers are declining. This view is particularly common among New Englanders. YOY results in the bay in recent years have seemed to mirror this trend. Fortunately, this year the spawn was outstanding - producing a result of 34.6, the third highest result in the 58 years the study has been done. The average year would be about 11.9 and last year was around 5.
This is just great news.
