I will have 2 hours to kill on Sunday morning, I am staying in East Stroudsburg. I have already fished McMichael & Pocono Creek in the past. I wanted to try Cherry Creek, looks like it flows through town. Again, I don't have much time so looking for easy access, even if theres few fish. I was going to park at Minisink Park, which is right on the Broadhead too, and even close to the Delaware, which is a whole other animal and I am not even going to fish that (just not enough time unfortunately)

Just wondering if access to the Broadhead and Cherry Creek is allowed near Minisink Park or is it all posted. Basically just going to toss a wooly bugger or soft hackle to stretch my legs before visiting family.

Again, I know there's more scenic places around the area which unfortunately I cannot make a day out of it. Just wondering if anyone has done some urban fishing in East Stroudsburg near the confluence of Cherry Creek, Broadhead Creek, and Delaware River. Google maps looks promising but I've been burned before by the dreaded "posted" signs and I don't want to waste time exploring for public access, just want to quick fish it for 2 hours.

Thanks for any help!

Cherry creek. You can get a free permit from national park service. I don’t have link right now but if you google “cherry creek national refuge fishing permit” you should be able to find it.

Pretty much you email the park service the day you want to fish and then they email you permit if available that day.

You will probably waste half of your two hours finding an access point on Cherry down in the Valley.

I used to fish the Brodhead all the time in Minisink Park (before it was Minisink Park) but it is far from picturesque water and Cherry near the mouth is BIG and slow.

If I was in E-Burg and only had two hours to kill, I'd park over at Walmart and walk over the levee and fish the Brodhead slightly below the mouth of McMichael's up to McMichael's and little ways up the McMichael's.

FWIW - I used to catch small clusters of Tricos hatching in that area many moons ago.

Or I'd go in town and park at either the Stroudsburg Post Office or the Hampton Inn and walk down to Section 6 of the McMichael's which also gives you access to the lower section (Section 6) of Pocono Creek.

Not overly picturesque either, but fast access to streams with fish.

Good luck!

You can access both at the park, it’s not posted. Expect low water right now.

Thanks all, awesome advice. Definately will help narrow my search down and spend more time on water.

Love this website!

Thanks!
