Tho I am in my introductory stage regarding Tying Materials...

My limited view only saw CDC for Dries.

A recent trip to Fly Shop in NC, led me to see what C Craven best features in Blog Link below.

 
I really like using CDC for collars on nymph patterns. CDC can also be tied in very effectively using the split thread technique to make it much more durable than if it were wound as you would a traditional hackle feather. Sometimes a very small whisp of dubbing layed on the cdc fibers before twisting them up in a split thread also can add to the overall appeal as well as possibly adding a bit of contrast to your subsurface pattern.

I started using it more myself. Its been fun. I like the look. I also used the remnants as dubbing in another pattern . Cruise through the What Are You Tying thread. You'll see some more.
 
Green blow torch nymph on a size 16 hook with a CDC collar. Collar was tied using the split thread technique.

This is one I tied years ago. It's all CDC. Trying to remember if I caught anything on it.
