Casting in the Wind

Two other things he didn't mention:

1) Casting into the wind, it's often better to use a reverse Belgian cast (high back cast, low forward cast) instead of the Belgian cast. This allows you to take advantage of the wind on the back cast, but get under it on the forward. It's a bit harder to learn than the Belgian cast, though.

2) If you learn to cast with your off hand (easier than you might think) you never have to backhand cast if the wind is blowing from the side of your dominant hand.
