I found these guys on the Perkiomen this past Sunday. I probably don't have enough information here for an ID, but I thought the pictures showing the cases might of interest to some. There were hundreds of them in the calmer water near the banks and they were actively moving around. I have not seem this many in gravel/sand cases before, but maybe I just wasn't looking. I picked a few up and dropped them, and found them to sink quickly. Their apparent density and the location made me wonder how often these might actually get swept into the current and eaten?
