Beckers fly!

Bwah!

Is it semantics that I don't think those qualify as pupae and appear to be more larva like? I hate making things more complex, but to me if you're talking pupa, then there's no pattern better than the Lafontaine sparkle pupa, period.

If its larva, then any of those work fine. Or dubbing on a hook with a rib, which is my choice, partridge optional.

Gfen, just to clear things up.. that is a Gary LaFontaine Emergent Sparkle Pupa another words ..ESP.Deadly and easy to tie, i do better on this than his Deep Sparkle Pupa or DSP.For Pupa's I personally catch all my fish on softhackles and flymphs, best damn pupa imitation i can think of or have tried so far..the ESP is the best IMHO caddis emerger will usually outfish a standard henryville or elkhair.

I cant agree with you more Rick. The esp is totally deadly. The only other fly I can say that comes close to the effectiveness of the esp is the Iris caddis. I have used this fly quite a bit and I can say that its pretty damn effective.

This is another that's pretty effective. I tied this one up and have been using it and it works great.

I have tied and use it in other colors such as chartreuse and yellow. It works quite well.
