I just purchased a Cabelas CZN 9' 6" 3 wt. czech nymphing rod. Does anyone have any expericene with this rod? I've read a few favorable reviews but would like to hear from some people on here who may have used the rod.

Thanks.

guys have been ranting and raving over this rod , its light for 10' , great warranty and best of all ITS CHEAP !!! i almost bought one but got the orvis access instead , budddy of mine (muskratnymph ) on here has a greys steamflex and it is awesome too !! i don't think u need a real high quality graphite stick to nymph with and sling weight which if it hits the rod is very hard on them but ....

F crapelas - get an 11'er for $80

blanks only $30

Slammer / Skilt,

Thanks for the feedback. I only bought this rod because they marked it down from $199.00 to $129.00 and cabelas sent me an offer for $20.00 off for a purchase of over $100.00.

Like I said, I have heard good reviews but just wanted to see if anyone on here has fished with it and what they thought of it for euronymphing.

Slammer I also own a greys streamflex and really like it as well. However, I have the 7' 6'' 3 wt. Not really suited for euronymphing.

That's a great deal. I will be interested to see what your opinions are on the rod as I do not know anyone using that rod.

That's pretty interesting, I have never read about the rating systems, etc. Will have to check that out more when I have time.

I've been looking at the grey's streamflex too but I will have to check out the Cabela's rod after Christmas. Thanks for the link to the cabelas rod review gfen.

It's an intereting time, with the Cabelas for $129 and the Greys for $179.

Jdaddy, do you mean the cOmmon cents system? I've never been motivated enough to figure it out.

Just received the rod in the mail today. It has a great feel and it very light. I will let you know how it fishes. Should be getting out next week sometime.

That's a big ten-four.

Man, that is hilarious. I read first 9 or so pages, which were quite scientific, analytical, precise, etc then on page 10 they are using books to hold a rod handle down off a desk while using a paper clip with a plastic bag to load pennies. IDK, I just found it funny. Still continuing on though, because it is interesting.

tl; dr.

Can someone please give a tl;dr version of the link? I made it through 4-5 words before I gave up. I blame my parents' generation for raising a bunch of idiots with the attention span of vegetables.

You put pennies in a bag and hang it from the rod. The weight and angle of the bend determine weight and action.

After reading all the PDF's I find that you also reintroduce the pennies for measuring fly line as well, since the standard rating system has so much more variance than pennies. In the rod section there is an attempt to quantify "feel" which is a pretty lofty goal imo. Yes, I think the "feel" was based upon pennies as well. I think I am starting to see a theme and possible reason for the naming of the system.

Oh. I never poured that much effort in. Just read the simplified doc, instead. Never noticed anyone who uses more than ERN and AA.
