A pattern I've had a lot of success with for steel and browns over the years.

Interesting pattern. Thanks

Just run the estaz and don't waste time with the biots and dubbing IMO.

Orange estaz patterns for steelhead?????????

Madness, sheer madness.

Doesn't work as good with just plain ole estaz Kev. I've left the tail off as well as switching it to krystal flash and other material....still doesn't work as good.

Yes I would think orange thread would work well too. I just prefer the look of the pink thread when the fly gets wet.

theres something aesthetically pleasing about the biots, and that is important to fish flies with confidence imho.

plus they may stabilise the fly in the water, by acting like a vanes.

Interesting pattern, Frank, and you have some nice videos on your channel; I look forward to seeing more.

For this pattern, I especially like the contrast created by the dark bead and pink head.
