The book was originally published in 1881 and was written by James A Henshall.

Anyone read this? Is it worth buying?

A book that old and famous should be available for download from Archive.org. Not a great way to read a book if it's a big one, but should give some idea of whether to invest in the real deal.

Yes. I cannot recommend this book more highly; it blends old-fashioned charm with fishing wisdom, including some that has been lost over the past hundred years or so. Black Bass expert Clyde E. Drury wrote the introduction to this version, available now from The Whitefish Press:

Odd coincidence, I just saw this today at Half Price Books. Should have picked it up but money a bit tight these days...
