Drove out to a buddy's camp near Mahaffey in Clearfield Co on Friday evening. Got up early Saturday, but our 1st plan didn't work due to poor access/private property, despite being listed as open. So we had to scramble and ended up on a nice stream in Blair Co. Fished all morning, caught mainly browns, but did manage 1 nice rainbow and a few brooks. Missed and saw a few really big browns. I'd say it was a great day on the water, but after getting hung up in a tree, I gave my line a quick yank to see if I could get the fly out (as I've done 1000x before) and sssnaaaap....broke my rod. Worst feeling in the world! Didn't help that I easily could have just reached up and grabbed the branch and untangle the fly/leader. That's what being lazy gets you. It snapped off pretty high up, taking my 9ft down to about 6'6. I kept fishing with it and caught 1 more brook before I called it a day. Thankfully, Orvis has me covered w their warranty.
