Art Flick invented this pattern and was listed in his book "Art Flick's Streamside Guide".
I use this fly in my beginner fly tying classes, it is a simple fly to tie and one that catches all fish. It imitates the Black Nose Dace that lives in the streams.
Materials:
Hook: 4X to 6X long streamer hook
Thread: Black 6/0
Tail: Red Yarn
Body: Silver Mylar Tinsel
Wing: Brown over Black over White Bucktail

No doubt. BND is one of the first streamer flies many of us learned to tie, along with the mickey finn, the more colorful of the two bucktail flies.

If you have ever been a bait fisherman or messed around with a net in many of our PA streams, you have learned the blacknose dace with the dark stripe along its lateral line is very common, and thus a deadly streamer pattern; plus it's easy to tie.
