barbed vs barbless

where do you stand?

i smash all my barbs prior to tying. i'am strictly c&r.

I have tried to buy barbless hooks or smash the barbs. After tonight I will probably be a bit more certain. Then again it was a fly the fish was wearing as jewelry that buried in my finger.

crimp size 16 and larger. The 18s and smaller I use have such a small barb I've never had a problem removing a hook.

I usually crimp them down once they get stuck in my net.

I crimp down the barb before putting the hook in the vice. If you can make it a habit, just part of the process, you don't have to deal with it onstream.

I do the same. It only takes a second.

I recently bought a small file to take barbs off. works great. always take the barb off before tying. i snapped one too many hook points off before. the file almost eliminates that though.
