I just finished talking to a good friend that said he was going to give a bamboo fly rod with a registered case. He said he didn’t know anything about it, that it may be a glass rod . All he knows is that some one told him it was a bamboo fly rod, it is a Heddon 8245. I have tried to run a search on it but I can’t seem to find out anything on it. Is there a web site that any of you know that has good info on vintage Heddon rods ? I am afraid that I my be getting my hopes up, since I can’t find any info about it. Thanks

Merle

Merle, just a guess, but it is probably an 8 ft., 2 piece, 4-5 weight rod. Here is a forum where you can probably get help identifying it once you get your hands on it:

Dear Merle,

You may want to look at the following website. Depending on your screen respolution you may have to use the arrows on the bottom of the page to scroll all the way to the right and then scroll down. You will find historical information and values on a ton of bamboo rods.

You may also want to ask for more information at this website.

I think based on the number that the rod may be a fiberglass rod. Heddon made some high quality fiberglass rods and while they may not be worth what a bamboo rod is worth they are fine fishing rods all the same. You can ask about that on the following forum.

Hopefully you will be able to find out more at one of those sites.

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Tim Murphy :)

My guess it that it is a glass rod. Found this one on Ebay. You might want to contact the buyer or seller. You really can't tell from the picture, but I would think if it were split cane, it would say so.

The old glass rods are making a comeback though.
