Backing choices?

Looking for a good quality backing of a low diameter that wont break the bank. Also heard that Walmart has cheap backing? If all else fails I may go with that.

Walmart has Cortland Fairplay, which is the normal dacron stuff. The longest spool our local store has is 100yd, though. You'd probably be able to save a couple bucks if you found a local store to back your reel for you.

I don't really think that backing is an item that merits much concern. Just use whatever you can get cheaply.

The only place I'd think it mattered is when you need to cram alot of it onto the spool, where you seek out the gelspun stuff for extra yardage in small places.
