If you never have tied any of these for brookies give them a try. Floats like a cork & the brookies & browns loved them morning on the West Branch of Pine!

Hook:2xl dry fly
Tail: Woodchuck tail
Wing: White Calf Tail
Body: Rusty Orange Australian Possum
Hackle: Grizzly and Brown

Brad,
You are correct this fly really does work exceptionally well not just on Freestoners but also on Limestoners where fish have seen everything. I tie mine a whisker different. But the Bomber pattern works great.

A griffith's gnat in size 14 with a tuft of calf hair.

Nearly identical to the Griffith's gnat, except for the different body, hackle, hook size, and the addition of a tail and wing ;)
Nice fly, and nicely tied.
Mike.

looks like a walts worm with hackle, tail, and calf wing. yep just like a walts!

That's one of my favorites. Great indicator fly as well.
