I picked up a Ziploc full of alpaca dubbing from an alpaca vendor. Looks and dubs great but does it float? Or should I only use it in nymphs? Responses appreciated in advance.

Ask an alpaca farmer if the animals float. There's one near Lisburn.

It's a very long staple length from what I remember. Good for things like brush construction, stacking heads on streamers etc.

Never used it as a dubbing for nymphs or dries. I don't believe it would be a suitable dry fly dub.

I have some in brown that i use on my march browns and brown drake spinners. It is a wool and is supposedly water resistant. I know from fishing it that it does not get bogged down with water and seems to dry after a couple false cast.
