bass fishing during the spawn

Very interesting article about studies on fishing C&R for bass during the spawn. I've always stopped fishing for bass in May through mid June. Read the article below and you may opt to do the same.

Interesting study - thanks for the link.

I too generally avoid fishing for bass during the spawning season and try never to target bass on beds. This study seems pretty thorough and strongly suggests the impact of pulling male guarding bass off beds has severe impact.

My guess is that, for rivers, YOY production is much more a result of water levels and weather patterns, than angling pressure...but this study certainly provides data to support closing bass angling on smaller lakes and ponds during the guarding season.
