Another simple one. Just a soft hackle that can be fished wet or dry. Gary Borger calls it the wet/dry fly. I use a covert feather from a duck wing with some superfine dubbing.

I certainly understand why a pike would eat this fly if it was in front of their face. I'm less certain how this fly would get there without fouling every cast. Guess we'll see...

Thread - Black
Tail - Amherst pheasant tipped barbs
Body - Black ostrich herl with a fluorescent green floss center band
Legs - Black hen hackle tied on as a collar and tied back
Wing case - White goose biots tied over the thorax in a V

Well, I thought I was finally going to get to join the cool guy Clouser Crayfish club. I was in the nape of the woods, neck of the wape of a shop I quite like but don't make it to often, so I stopped in to browse. Found a couple dirt cheap packs of furry foam that may have been older than me:
I got home and started tying up the pattern, but, when I got to tying in the furry foam, I opened the packets only to have the material completely disintegrate in my hands. Both colors crumbled to a pile of dust.
I called an audible and tried to save the fly with some thin skin as a back.
I imagine it'll fish, but always a bridesmaid and never a bride.
